Looking back, it's almost close to a year ever since I've started dabbling in this little project. A feat that I couldn't have imagined possible, considering the fact that more than half of this year was spent abroad in foreign lands for me.
When I first started out with this, I was still employed as a copywriter and counting down the days to my resignation. (which was actually pretty crappy to be honest.) Now I'm back to being a student in the final year of my degree. In this time, I've participated in five exhibitions/sales, of which three of them saw me being overseas, leaving the groundwork to my mum and sister who're pretty darn awesome (with a bit of reservations to the latter, unless I get a nice Christmas present from her :D ) enough to spend a day, doing the sales in my absence.
I must say that I've learn quite a lot in this one year and if good things should be shared, here it is:
1) It's never going to be about the money. If you're thinking about getting into the hand made craft/design industry for the monies, you'd probably have better luck finding a giant deranged mutant hamster who sings strictly in the D key and dances the Irish jig for a living. Heck, being in this line demands wayyy a lot more discipline and passion than I can ever admit to having.
2) Designers in this hand-made craft line are humans too. Yes, we may always seem to appear cheery feery in our Facebook pages or websites but it doesn't mean that we're wired that way, so do be nice to us and we promise not to bite
3) We don't like getting invites to participate as vendors in markets where the crowd do not appreciate art or hand made crafts. Nuff said.
4) Travelling really broadens your perspective. (At least it really broadened mine)
Anyways, that's enough from me, here are some pictures from today's event at Urban Village!
